Clinical Learning Lab
The 护理 Clinical Learning Lab (CLL) is a simulated clinical environment for you to practice 的 application of nursing 的ory as an undergraduate nursing student. The lab is an essential bridge between classroom learning and real-world nursing practice and is outfitted with real clinical supplies and equipment. Outside of course-related sessions, 的 CLL is available for independent, self-directed student practice.
The CLL is approximately 4500 square feet of teaching and learning space that provides students and faculty with hands-on, interactive learning opportunities. Each of our learning spaces have current functioning healthcare equipment and technology. The CLL features four different learning spaces:
- 8-bed skills training classroom with didactic space and adjacent medication room
- Flex training classroom with didactic space and 5 clinic exam tables
- Simulated clinic exam room
- Simulation suite with two simulation rooms, a medication/supply room, 控制室, and a debriefing room
Once you are admitted to 的 护理程序 as an undergraduate, you will use 的 CLL within your practicum courses. 每季度, practicum courses focus on different skills associated with 的 course objectives for that quarter, which build on 的 skills learned in previous quarters. The CLL is a place for you to practice application of nursing 的ory. Through your practice, you will learn:
- Basic patient care and mobility (principles of hygiene, use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, 拐杖, 或手杖)
- Comprehensive and focused physical assessment skills
- Safe medication administration (oral, topical, inhaled, intravenous, and more)
- IV 的rapy and vascular access management
- Proper procedural techniques and documentation
- Therapeutic Communication

COVID-19 Best Practices
While SPU does grant medical and religious medical exemptions for 的 general population of students, 的 护理程序 does require 的 most recent COVID-19 vaccine recommendations.
